Bâton Fleur-de-lisé – a baton, a sign of military grandeur, its phallic shape referring to masculinity. Napoleon once said that every French soldier carried in his satchel a baton of the Marshal of France, or that he could be promoted from a private to a marshal. This points to the illusory nature of pursuing goals, goals which are in fact quite abstract.
